Specific risk factor

No doubt that on the Southern edge of Europe, the Costa del Sol region is affected by the climate change. The last years have been signicifantly dryer, raining season has been shorter – but tourism has been still booming and growing, new residential projects has been built. All condition has been set to the lack of water becaming a real problem on the coast.

But the government of the province and the local authorities reacted surprisingly fast. They spend hundreds of millions of euros for pipeline construction and reconstructions. As a long-term solutions the first sea water desalination plant starts its operation this year and others will be built soon.

However the problem is real and existing, may hit the news in 2024 and 2025, but that is just temporary. Unlike several other drought areas, on the shores of the Mediterranian there is always enough water, just takes time and money to implement new capacities and technologies. That is why we do not define drought as a significant impact on real estate prices.
